*the actual classification of this strand is a little wonky. when purchased, i forgot to mark down the stone type (bad me!), but at best guess (with assistance from friends at CreativeBreakroom.com) it's a form of banded agate. agate and jasper are varieties of chalcedony, all of which are types of quartz (like Amethyst and Citrine).
rest assured, these are really gemstone beads. i'm just not 100% on the specific type of gemstone. i'm about 95% sure it's chalcedony. ^.^;
